Packaging affects product protection, container loading, customs paperwork and the buyer’s presentation at destination. Before ordering sunflower seeds from China, wholesale buyers should agree the packaging specification in writing.

1. Start with the product specification

Confirm the sunflower seed variety, grade, size range, moisture requirement, crop season, intended use and expected quantity before discussing bags or cartons. Packaging should protect the agreed product rather than replace a clear product specification.

2. Choose a practical package format

Bulk buyers commonly request export bags, retail-ready bags, cartons or a combination of inner bags and outer cartons. The best format depends on your sales channel, warehouse handling, destination labelling rules and container-loading plan. Confirm the net weight per package and acceptable weight tolerance before production.

3. Agree the label information

Labels may need to show the product name, origin, net weight, production or packing date, lot reference, importer information and destination-market information. Local rules vary, so the buyer should confirm required wording and language with the destination importer or broker before printing begins.

4. Plan container loading early

Loading should protect bags from damage, moisture and unnecessary movement during transport. Buyers should confirm whether pallets are required, how packages will be stacked, whether container lining is needed and which shipping marks are required. Photos of loading and the final package count are useful records for both parties.

5. Match packaging with export documents

The purchase contract, commercial invoice and packing list should use the same package description, quantity and net weight. Clear documents help reduce questions at destination and make it easier to reconcile the container after arrival.
